Antrax, a company founded in 2002 and specialising in the production of radiators and fireplaces, by making quality a priority aim of its business, has always employed cutting-edge production technology and counted on partnerships with world-famous designers such as Peter Rankin, Massimo Iosa Ghini, Francesco Lucchese and Andrea Crosetta. Two philosophies that have been recompensed not only by the sales and marketing results achieved – in just four years the brand has achieved international acclaim and the product lines have multiplied – but also by the official recognition of the international design community, as demonstrated by the special distinctions and prizes awarded to its products, during prestigious Italian and foreign events.
This is the case for Tubone, the radiator with a basic, linear shape, designed by Andrea Crosetta: first prize at the ‘Bañeo 2007’ international industrial design competition, organised by Valencia Exhibition Centre during the ‘Cevisama Exhibition’, when Tubone was chosen by the ADI Design Index 2006, the first, essential step to competing for the 21st edition of the prestigious ‘Premio Compasso d’Oro’. Tubone is a synthetic, functional re-working of a conventional radiator and is also suitable for use as a towel warmer. It is manufactured using a pipe that forms a double “U” shape and can be used either singly or in a composition, to offer a multitude of installation solutions. A multi-purpose concept also characterises the Saturn & Moon radiator designed by Peter Rankin and winner of the ‘2006 Best Design prize’: a radiating spherical element (in the Moon version), with a plastic, sculpted appearance but whose built-in bar also makes it a practical towel-warmer (Saturn). Versatility and elegance also represent the distinguishing feature of Vu, designed by Massimo Iosa Ghini, an innovative solution in step with contemporary living. Its fluid, dynamic shape is reminiscent of a flame, flow, a product with a sculpture-like, artistic and extremely sophisticated image.
Vu is currently exhibited at ‘Neue Sammlung’, the new applied art collection at Munich Picture Gallery, which now houses over 60,000 objects of industrial design, graphic design and artistic craftsmanship, making it one of the 20th century’s most important art museums. Despite being a young company, Antrax has therefore consolidated its position as a leader in the design radiator sector, testifying to the undisputable vitality and uniqueness of Italian style and quality.
This dynamism is also demonstrated in its communication-related activities, such as participation in the “Il design va in Piazza – Design on the street” event organised by the CID, the International Design Centre, and recently staged in Treviso city centre. On show were the products of the Treviso area’s most highly acclaimed companies that, like Antrax, have made design a reason for existing and success.
